Eisner Awards 2020 – Os Indicados

Eisner Awards 2020 – Os Indicados: A organização da Comic-Con anunciou hoje em seu site os concorrentes ao prêmio Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards 2020. As indicações contemplam quadrinhos publicados nos EUA no período de 1 de janeiro a 31 de dezembro de 2019. Os prêmios são distribuídos por 31 modalidades, com mais de 170 trabalhos, impressos e/ou digitais, concorrendo a eles.

As editoras mais indicadas esse ano são a IDW e a Image Comics, com 13 indicações (mais um compartilhada), e 11 indicações (mais seis compartilhadas), respectivamente. Curiosamente essas editoras encontram pouco espaço no nosso mercado, mas nos últimos tempos muitos indicados ao Eisner tem chegado por aqui. James Stokoe, por exemplo, lidera as indicações individuais esse ano, a maioria por Sobek, seu mais recente gibi. Aqui no Brasil esse cara teve 6 histórias da Marvel publicadas pela Panini nos títulos Venom, Cavaleiro da Lua e especiais das Guerras Secretas. É pouco.

Como praticamente tudo na nossa vida sofreu alterações devida à pandemia de coronavírus, o Eisner Awards 2020 não passou incólume. O processo de seleção dos quadrinhos normalmente é feito em um encontro dos jurados em algum lugar em San Diego, mas esse ano os indicados foram decididos de maneira bastante diferente.

“O processo de julgamento foi muito desafiador este ano”, disse a administradora do Eisner Awards, Jackie Estrada, em um comunicado. “Normalmente, todos os juízes se reúnem em San Diego por quatro dias em uma sala cheia de todos os quadrinhos e livros enviados e podem interagir pessoalmente. Com o país trancado, todos eles tiveram que ficar em suas respectivas casas (tão longe quanto Maine, Pensilvânia, Kansas e Kingston, Ontário), então [eles] tiveram que se comunicar por e-mail, um grupo de mídia social e Zoom. Pacotes de livros iam e voltavam por todo o país. Felizmente, conseguimos trabalhar com o pessoal da comiXology e com muitos editores para ter versões digitais de centenas de envios disponíveis para os juízes. “
